Ray Farmer will be fired if the 2015 Browns finish worse than 5-11.

When you really start looking at Ray Farmers drafting, you have to wonder how long he will stick with an organization that continually fires General Managers. Let’s take a deeper look into the past two drafts.

2014

1a Justin Gilbert – 3rd string, inactive and suspended in 14 – Watkins, Evans, ODB, etc. etc on the board still.

1b Johnny Manziel – with Teddy Bridgewater on the board, inactive, suspended, rehab

  1. Joel Bitonio – excellent pick
  2. Christian Kirkey – Starter
  3. Terrance West – traded to the Titans (gave up a 4th and a 6th round pick to get him) for a conditional 7th
  4. Pierre Desir – reserve CB, 3rd or 4th string.

Obviously knowing what we know about these guys, this is an absolute abortion of a draft. We got one quality player out of 6 and missed out on many franchise players in the process.

2015

1a Danny Shelton – Looks good, but we do not know yet.

1b Cameron Erving – A backup guard, who did not look great as a reserve in preseason.

2 Nate Orchard – looks slow and overmatched in preseason

3a Duke Johson – injured for the entire preseason sans like 10 snaps in game 3. Not a good start

3b Xavier Cooper – looks like a good player, we’ll see

4a Ibraheim Campbell – looks very instinctual against the backups, you have to wonder if he has the speed to play with starters

4b Vince Mayle –  Cut, signed to Cowboys practice squad

6 Charles Gaines – looked fantastic against the backups and even a bit of starting time. Looks like a great 6th round pick.

Zero offensive playmakers. The one that was selected and is still on the team hasn’t played. For a league that is all about offense, we have the worst offense in the entire league.

Above and beyond the questionable drafting, Textgate, the fact that he is suspended for the first 4 games. Rifts between him and offensive coordinators causing a bright young mind to walk? This insane notion he has thrown out about creating an offensive situation that is “Bad QB proof”.

You have to wonder, if this team struggles against a brutal stretch of good defenses on the schedule this year. How long does Farmer hang onto his job? Will he get another year if they go 4-12 as many have projected?
